Maritim is in Sachseln, a village in the canton of Obwalden, central Switzerland, on the shore of Lake Sarnen. Despite its name, the village lies in Switzerland's mountainous interior and is known chiefly for the Parish Church of St. Theodul and Nicholas of Flüe, linked to the country's patron saint.
Sachseln keeps a strong rural alpine identity, with traditional timber houses, and serves as a gateway to the Melchtal valley and the mountain areas of the canton of Obwalden.
