Blu Galapagos is on Avenida Manuel J. Calle, in Cuenca, a colonial city in the Andes of southern Ecuador, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its historic centre preserves well-kept Spanish architecture, with churches, inner courtyards and colourful facades along the Tomebamba river.
Cuenca is also known for its traditional production of the toquilla straw hat, popularly known abroad as the Panama hat, a craft that originated in this region of the Ecuadorian Andes.
